Tonight I am beside myself with glee.
For the first time in all my coffee-drinking years a barista spelled my name correctly without me telling her how it was spelled. They always spell my nickname wrong – it’s spelled with a k, they usually spell it with a c. And the times when I spell out my name so they can write it correctly they call out my name wrong.
I’m really a Seattle’s Best Coffee drinker, but tonight I’m soooo loving Starbucks.
In the year 2008 I promise to do more.
I promise to . . . read more, listen more, study more, yet play more.
I promise to . . . travel more, party more, feel more, be nicer and love more.
I promise . . .
to dream more
be more
live more.
(And I'm not one to break my promises.)
The early fireworks display around QC was amazing if not a little bitin (as should be expected from New Year’s Eve teasers). But I was not out in the open air to enjoy it. I was on my last OB duty looking out the window of the ICU, taking a short break before going back to monitor a toxic patient who went into cardiopulmonary arrest as she was undergoing a cesarian section. I shake my head and repeatedly say “Yes, this is my life”.
I ended up not volunteering at the Trauma Center today. I'm sure I'll regret this eventually but right now I'm back at home in the province enjoying my grandma's high-speed internet. I'm waiting for family to arrive for dinner and maybe a few drinks, a few firecrackers, then sleep. I find myself wanting nothing more then to watch ER re-runs and rethinking New Year's resolutions during the commercials.
Well, tomorrow is a new day.
A new year.
To everyone: A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
